Buellton, CA - Park & Ride

Buellton is at it again.  The city is spending more of our hard-earned tax dollars on another useless park & ride project.  Those of you who use the recently constructed one know how poorly designed this 1 million dollar project is.  The buss dangerously stops in traffic to load and unload passengers on Avenue of The Flags.  Avenue of The Flags has a posted speed of 35 MPH.  Traffic from behind the buss is traveling at speeds up to 55 MPH.  There is not ample parking for all passengers getting off at this stop.  So, passengers must cross Avenue of The Flags to get to their cars parked in the Rancho De Maria housing tract while entering into this terribly dangerous cross-traffic.  There is NO crosswalk for them.

Early on, many buss riders emailed Clean Air Express officials, expressing their unhappiness in regards to moving the location of where the buss stops to the northern end of Buellton.  I was told that no legitimate reason was given.  I am told that emails are no longer being replied to.

This park & ride also serves the late-night crowd as a wonderful meeting place for lovers (leaving their used condoms in the parking lot) and drug dealers.  This park & ride is never patrolled by city police or sheriff.  The park and ride is poorly maintained with weeds everywhere.  What a great look to welcome tourists as they enter our wonderful city from the south.  So... let's build another one!  Yes, there is talk that the city will build another park & ride at the north end of town ONE MILE AWAY FROM THIS ONE!  Come on people... get a grip!  Why don't you spend our tax dollars on fixing the horrible pot holes in the city's poorly maintained roads!

Why doesn't the city of Buellton demand Clean Air Express to use the million dollar park and ride stop that was just built?  Is this just part of a City of Buellton land grab along with buying the Zaca Creek golf course?  $1,000,000.00 down the toilet!
